Name your new connection Easton Connect and then click on the "Next" button at the
bottom. Do not change the default device type on this screen, that is your modem
which is automatically detected by your computer.
Enter the phone number from the access number list that is provided and make sure it
is a local telephone call for your location. If you need to dial an area code with
your local number, also enter it in the box titled "Telephone Number", the "Area Code"
box should be left blank. Note: (Easton Telecom Services is not responsible for long
distance charges.) Click "Next".
Click "Finish" on the following screen and a new icon will appear in the Dial-Up Networking box.
Right click on the Easton Connect icon that was just created and then left click on "Properties" from the drop down menu.
Make sure that the "Use Area Code and Dialing Properties" box is unchecked unless you
need to call long distance to connect to the nearest access number. Note: (Easton
Telecom Services is not responsible for long distance charges.)
Then click on the "Server Types" tab located across the top and make sure that the
"Enable Software Compression" and TCP/IP" boxes are the only ones checked and then click "OK".
To create a shortcut to the connection that you just made, right click on the "Easton Connect"
icon and select "Create Shortcut" from the drop down menu that appears. When asked if you would like to
place the shortcut on your desktop, select "Yes". This is what the icon will look like.
Double click on the shortcut that you just made on your desktop titled "Easton Connect". Enter
your username ("username@eastontelecom.com") and then enter your password as provided on your Easton
Connect Access Form. The username and password are case sensitive, so be sure to enter both in
lowercase characters. If you would like your password to be saved, check mark the box next to "Save
Password". Click "Connect".
